Eventually I have ended up working three-dimensional with sculptures. I
started still rather 2-dimensional with the sculpture
"footprint" of grey/green speksteen, Which has basically 2
sides. But the work "Twins" of transparent alabaster is
entirely spatial. The image of the sculpture varies greatly, if you move
around the work. Straight or curved, smooth or rough.
Sculpting is for me a kind of meditation. I enter in a sort of
trance. the stone guides me towards the desired form.
I look for a special stone to make a connection. I see a shape in the
stone, a foot, a hand, towers.. Then I get to work. A three-dimensional
fighting of which the outcome often takes me with surprise, but it is
always fits with my original ideas or feelings. Suddenly I feel what
this cavity or this contour will become. I feel myself become ONE with
the stone. It is sensual and fysical. Hard labour.
